UDOT Region One Road Construction Report for November 24-December 1, 2011

Ogden– The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) advises motorists of the following road construction and maintenance activities that may cause traffic impacts in the state’s Northern Region: Box Elder County Hansel Valley Nov 24-Dec 1: Work is complete on the concrete pavement rehabilitation project from Hansel Valley to Rattlesnake Pass on east-bound I-84, with the exception of a few minor punch list items. Traffic is presently restricted to one open lane, with work separated from traffic by barrels. Motorists should reduce speed and be aware of workers and equipment working adjacent to open lanes of travel. Oversized load movers and rigging companies should contact the Utah Motor Carriers Division at (801) 965-4892, or the Perry Port of Entry at (435) 734-9414 for wide load routing information. Nov 24-Dec 1: Work is complete on a project to seal joints in the concrete roadway on I-84 west-bound between Rattlesnake Pass and Hansel Valley, with the exception of a few minor punch list items. Traffic is restricted to one open lane, and motorists should reduce speed and be aware of workers and equipment working adjacent to open lanes of travel. Also be aware of construction vehicles suddenly leaving or entering open travel lanes at any time. Brigham City/Willard Nov 28: Beginning at 9 p.m. and continuing for up to four hours, the northbound I-15 off-ramp at 1100 South (Exit 362) in Brigham City and southbound I-15 off-ramp at 2000 West (Exit 351) in South Willlard will be closed the night of Monday, November 28, for joint sealing. Work will be completed on one ramp before progressing to the next. Motorists may use 750 North (Exit 357) in Willard and US-89 as an alternate route during the closures. Nov 24-Dec 1: Temporary lane striping on I-15 is expected to be completed this week within project limits. This work will take place within the regularly scheduled nightly single-lane restriction. Permanent striping will be completed next spring. Restrictions are effective nightly from 7 p.m. to 9 a.m. Motorists with time-sensitive travel should use US-89 as an alternate route. Cache County Amalga: Nov 24-Dec 1: Work is moving forward on SR-218 in Amalga, between 2150 West and 2450 West. This project involves closing the access to SR-218 from West 6200 North, as well as improving the intersections at 2150 and 2400 West. Lanes may be occasionally restricted or closed, so motorists traveling through this area should reduce speed and be aware of workers and equipment adjacent to open lanes of traffic. Once this project is completed, residents on West 6200 North will access their properties via the intersection at 2150 West. Logan – Tenth West Nov 23: 1100 West is now permanently closed at US-89/91. An emergency “crash gate” is being installed and will be permanently closed at that location, with access by emergency vehicles only. Nov 24-Dec 1: 200 South at 1000 West is closed to through traffic. This intersection will remain closed until concrete paving on the east side of 1000 West is complete, and concrete has cured. Nov 24-Dec 1: 1000 South at 1000 West remains closed to through traffic. This intersection will remain closed until concrete paving on the east side of 1000 West is complete, and concrete has cured. Residents living between the bridge and 1000 South on 1000 West, will be able to access their homes from 1000 South. Please use alternate routes. This closure is expected to last until crews complete paving on the east side of 1000 West. Nov 24-Dec 1: Work on the Logan River Bridge continues. The west lane approaches are expected to be poured this weekend or early next week, depending on the weather. Once the tie-ins have cured, traffic will be shifted to the outer lanes of the bridge, and work on the center section of the bridge will commence. Nov 24-Dec 1: Curb and gutter installation between 1000 South is now underway. Crews are continuing install curb and gutter between 200 North and 600 South, with work will continuing as weather permits. Landscaping working is also on going in the area between 600 South and 200 South. While this work takes place at the edge of pavement, motorists should approach it cautiously and be prepared to stop at any time as directed. Nov 24-Dec 1: The hand pouring of neighborhood accesses at 330 and 370 South is now underway, with all the traffic shifted to the south side of these streets while crews finish pouring the concrete tie-ins to 1000 West. The one-way traffic pattern in these intersections remains in effect as marked. Motorists are asked to avoid driving on the north side of these neighborhood entrances until the concrete has cured and all traffic management devices are removed. Morgan County Morgan Nov 24-Dec 1: Paving work is complete on the first phase of a project to re-pave and restore I-84, between Morgan (SR-66) and Mountain Green (SR-167), with work being conducted between Morgan and Peterson, has been completed. The Peterson interchange is completely open, and striping of the new concrete lanes on the I-84 mainline is being accomplished in preparation for the removal of the traffic cross-overs west of Morgan and Peterson. Wide loads anticipating use of I-84 should contact the Echo or Perry Port of Entry’s, or the State Motor Carrier Division office at (801) 965-4892 before proceeding on this route. Alpine Highway Winter Weather Advisory State Road-39, the Monte Cristo Highway, and SR-65, the Big Mountain Highway, are now closed for the winter, and the gates at both closed sections of each route have been shut and locked. These roadways will reopen again next spring as soon as the weather and snow depths allow. Motorists are encouraged to be cognizant of weather conditions in the areas they plan to travel, and be prepared for the prospect of winter-like driving conditions on our mountain highways at any time from this point forward.
