UDOT Region One Road Construction Report for November 12-17, 2011

Ogden– The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) advises motorists of the following road construction and maintenance activities that may cause traffic impacts in the state’s Northern Region: Weber CountyOgdenNov 12: Work on a project to re-pave Washington Boulevard (US-89) from 26th to 36th Street has now been suspended for the winter months. Work will resume in the spring. For project information, call toll-free 800-292-3557, or e-mail info@frontlinepi.com Box Elder CountyHansel ValleyNov 11-17: Work is wrapping up on the concrete pavement rehabilitation project from Hansel Valley to Rattlesnake Pass on east-bound I-84. Traffic is presently restricted to one open lane, with work separated from traffic by barrels. Motorists should reduce speed and be aware of workers and equipment working adjacent to open lanes of travel. Loads wider than 14 feet are prohibited through this area, so oversized load movers and rigging companies should contact the Utah Motor Carriers Division at (801) 965-4892, or the Perry Port of Entry at (435) 734-9414 for wide load routing information. Nov 11-17: Work is nearly complete on a project to seal joints in the concrete roadway on I-84 west-bound between Rattlesnake Pass and Hansel Valley. Traffic is restricted to one open lane, and motorists should reduce speed and be aware of workers and equipment working adjacent to open lanes of travel. Also be aware of construction vehicles suddenly leaving or entering open travel lanes at any time. Brigham CityNov 11-17: I-15 is reduced nightly to one lane in each direction between the South Willard interchange (Exit 351) and US-91/1100 South Interchange (Exit 362) in Brigham City, in specific areas where work is occurring. Work on temporary lane striping begins next week within project limits. This work will take place within the regularly scheduled single-lane restriction. Permanent striping will be completed next spring. Restrictions are effective nightly from 7 p.m. to 9 a.m. Motorists with time-sensitive travel should use US-89 as an alternate route. Cache County Amalga:Nov 11-17: Work is moving forward on SR-218 in Amalga, between 2150 West and 2450 West. This project involves closing the access to SR-218 from West 6200 North, as well as improving the intersections at 2150 and 2400 West. Lanes may be occasionally restricted or closed, so motorists traveling through this area should reduce speed and be aware of workers and equipment adjacent to open lanes of traffic. Once this project is completed, residents on West 6200 North will access their properties via the intersection at 2150 West.Logan – Tenth WestNov 23: As advance notice to all local residents, 1100 West will close at US-89/91 permanently on November 23. A crash gate will be installed and permanently closed at that location, with access by emergency vehicles only. From that date forward all residents should use 1800 South to 1000 West to access US-89/91. Residents living between the bridge and 1000 South on 1000 West, will be able to access their homes from 1000 South. Please use alternate routes. This intersection will remain closed until concrete paving on the east side of 1000 West is complete, and concrete has cured. Asphalt tie-ins at 1600 South will take place on Monday, November 7. Nov 11-17: The access to the businesses near the 1000 West intersection with US-89/91 is closed from that highway until mid-November while crews rebuild it. Access from 1000 West, however, is now open for patrons to access those businesses. Nov 11-17: Rainbow Drive remains closed at 1000 West. This closure is expected to last until crews complete paving on the east side of 1000 West. Nov 11-17: Work on the Logan River Bridge continues. The approaches to the far east side of the bridge have been poured, and the west lane approaches will be poured in a couple of weeks. Once the tie-ins have cured, traffic will be shifted to the outer lanes of the bridge, and work on the center section of the bridge will commence. Morgan County MorganNov 11-17: Work is underway on a project to re-pave I-84, and construct a new cable median barrier between Morgan (SR-66) and Mountain Green (SR-167), and paving is now being underway between Morgan and Peterson, west-bound, and at the Peterson Interchange. During the first phase of this project, west-bound traffic on I-84 is being crossed over into the east-bound lanes at Morgan, returning to the west-bound lanes at Peterson. It is expected that work on this phase of the project will wind-up for the winter by the end of November. Wide loads of over 14 feet are restricted at Echo Junction, and are being detoured west-bound via I-80. Local westbound wide loads may be allowed as far west as Morgan, with permitting from the Utah Motor Carrier Division and the resident engineer on the project. Alpine Highway Winter Weather Advisory State Road-39, the Monte Cristo Highway, and SR-65, the Big Mountain Highway, are now receiving occasional moderate snowfalls and will close for the winter at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, November 15. Motorists are encouraged to be cognizant of weather conditions in the areas they plan to travel, and be prepared for the prospect of winter-like driving conditions on any of these and other mountain highways at any time from this point forward.
