They want the SereniCare Funeral Home to locate in Logan but members of the Logan Municipal Council this week said no to the request of the funeral home to set up shop in the new Town Center Zone. The vote was four to one with councilmember Jay Monson calling the decision “unfair.” He said SereniCare, which has no chapel and only minor parking, would offer those who cannot afford a higher cost of burial an option. Two other mortuaries located in the Town Center Zone will be allowed to stay because they are grandfathered in. SereniCare owner Kent Smith said the company has four funeral homes operating successfully in Utah.He feels the proposed location at 130 East 400 North would be an ideal spot for his business. The Logan Planning Commission earlier denied the request saying the new Town Center Zone does not allow for mortuaries but encourages a mixture of retail and residential.
