McKenna Is Top Finisher For Utah State Cross Country At Chile Pepper Festival Saturday

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Senior captain Brian McKenna led the Utah State men’s cross country team to a fourth-place finish at the University of Arkansas hosted Chile Pepper Festival on Saturday as he finished 15thout of 288 runners with a time of 30:09.5. USU’s women took home a 14th-place finish with sophomore Hannah Williams leading the charge as she crossed the finish line in 81st-place (22:16.1). The men ran a 10-kilometer race while the women competed in a six-kilometer race at University of Arkansas’ off-road course at Agricultural Park in Washington County. Other Aggie men finishing in the top 100 included sophomore Kyle McKenna (35th, 30:37.4) along with seniors Daniel Howell (40th, 30:47.0), Hunter Nelson (58th, 31:07.7), Eric Larson (64th, 31:12.9) and Nick Bolinder (94th, 31:50.1). Junior Kaylee Campbell finished the women’s race with a time of 22:21.3, which was good enough for 85th-place. Joining Williams and Campbell in the top 100 was senior Jessie Chugg (92nd, 22:30.1) and redshirt junior captain Ruth Hilton (99th, 22:33.6). Other finishers for the Aggie men include sophomore Devin Lang (121st, 32:10.0), and freshman Eric Shellhorn (127th, 32:15.2), Austin Neuner, (159th, 32:56.5) and Corey Kimzey (230th, 34:58.9). Other finishers for the Aggie women include junior Stephanie Burt (122nd, 22:54.7), sophomores Brittany Fisher (126th, 23:02.6) and Cherice Chugg (179th, 24:01.9) and freshman Brittany Bushman (125th, 23:01.2) and Tessa Brown (194th, 24:22.3). Action continues for USU’s men and women’s cross country teams as they travel to Honolulu for the 2011 Western Athletic Conference Championship on Oct. 29. At the 2010 WAC Championships, the Aggie women finished second while the men took home third-place.
