NORTH OGDEN, Utah (AP) — Local, state and federal authorities are helping to investigate the disappearance of a 16-year-old babysitter missing since Sept. 10. Family members acknowledged this week that Alexis Rasmussen has run away before. But they are more fearful for her safety since learning the couple she was last seen with was arrested recently on unrelated drug charges. Rasmussen’s disappearance is being treated as a missing or endangered person case rather than a criminal investigation, North Ogden police spokesman Paul Rhoades said Wednesday. “We have no information to believe that she’s run into foul play,” Rhoades said. “We’re still running on the assumption she’s out there and someone knows where she’s at.” He said the FBI, National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, Utah Statewide Information and Analysis Center and various agencies in Weber County have provided assistance, either in the form of manpower or technology. Police said Rasmussen went to the home of Eric and Dea Millerberg on Sept. 10 to baby-sit their young children but reportedly left before midnight to meet a friend. Rhoades said officers have talked to that boy, but he claimed he only texted Rasmussen that night and didn’t meet her. Rasmussen’s mother, Dawn Miera, said she is convinced her daughter didn’t run away because she did not take anything with her, and has not returned any texts since that night. Rhoades said there have been reported sightings of Rasmussen in Weber and Davis counties, though none of them have been confirmed. “I just hope when people say they’re seeing her out there, I hope it’s her,” Miera said. “She loves me and she loves her brother and her sister. For her not to call for a month … I just want her to know I love her.” Last week Dea Millerberg was charged with two counts of fraudulent prescription and Eric Millerberg was arrested on a probation violation, according to Weber County jail booking documents. Miera said the Millerberg home was searched by police last week but Rhoades declined to comment on the intent of the searches. Rasmussen is described as 5-foot-3 with blond hair and green eyes. She has piercings on her right upper lip, left lower lip and right eyebrow.
