Democrats oppose Utah redistricting maps being proposed

It looks like Utah Democrats will be filing a lawsuit against Republicans over recent maps proposed for redistricting. The Democrats are crying foul for what they say are gerrymandered congressional district maps that dilute the voice of citizens and divide communities.The Utah legislature opens its special session Monday and the maps are expected to be approved before the session is over. Cache County Democratic Party Chairman Vince Wickwar says the party is soliciting financial donations to help pay for the lawsuit.State Democratic Party Chairman Jim Dabakis says all over the state Republican manipulators are damaging democracy. He says Ogden and Weber counties are fractured into four Senate districts. Tooele City and County are split to protect Republican incumbents.Summit County is yanked to all corners of the state to divide the Democratic stronghold. He says people all over the state, not just Democrats are outraged.
