Local help available for starting a business

The economy may be bad but that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s a bad time to start a new business. So how do people know what to do if they feel they have a great business idea? There is a lot of good advice available at the Cache Business Resource Center according to Director Cindy Roberts.Roberts says would-be entrepreneurs need to know the risks involved before they take this major step.”The Department of Workforce Services works with us, (Utah State) University, Innovation Campus, there are many, many partners who work through there,” Roberts said. “Just make sure you have all your ducks in a row. For financing, we have a lot of people coming in asking for financing, actually they’re coming in asking for grants. There aren’t government grants for starting a business.”She says there are grants available for research and development. On KVNU’s Crosstalk show Thursday, Roberts said there are many other services available at the Business Resource Center located at the Bridgerland Applied Technology Center’s west campus.
