Logan candidates agree to take down signs

Six of the 13 candidates who filed candidacy for three open seats on the Logan Municipal Council survived the primary election, which was held on September 13. The six candidates who got the most votes will now compete against each other in the general election on November 8. The advancing candidates are incumbent councilmember Herm Olsen, former mayor Doug Thompson, Tom Jensen, Karl Ward, Jeanie Simmonds and Angela Fonnesbeck. On Tuesday night Olsen, who is the current municipal council chairman, said the six candidates have already come up with an agreement: all of their lawn signs will be taken down until two weeks before the election. “We determined that this is not a run for the presidency for the United States where people have to campaign for two years,” Olsen said. “In an effort to strike a blow to end visual pollution in the city, we’re all taking down our signs and inviting people who have signs in their yard to take them down. They’ll be put back up on October 21.” Olsen encouraged residents who have signs on their lawns to take them down until then. In the past there have bee a lot of complaints about damaged or stolen campaign signs.
