A semi-truck that was unable to slow down and stop on I-15 crashed into other semis near Brigham City, causing a chain reaction and killing one of the drivers, 64 year-old Hyrum resident Derrel Ray Leach. The accident occurred just before 2 p.m. near mile post 363 in the north bound lane.According to police reports, traffic in the left-hand travel lane was being diverted over to the right-hand lane because of a previous crash at mile post 364. That semi was pushed forward into the middle semi, which was then pushed forward into the semi at the front. Leach, the driver of the initial vehicle that caused the accident, died on impact. He had been wearing his seat belt.None of the other semi drivers were injured. Traffic was able to get past the new accident using the right-hand lane during the investigation of the crash.
