Sen. Garn speaking at USU to commemorate Constitution Day

In commemoration of Constitution Day the Utah State University College Republicans are hosting former U.S. Senator and Astronaut Jake Garn on Friday, September 16. The U.S. Constitution was signed on September 17, 1787. Garn will speak Friday at 12 noon in the Taggart Student Center HUB, which is located on the ground floor of the center. Garn served in the U.S. Senate from 1974 until 1993. He flew as a payload specialist on STS-51D Discovery from April 12-19 in 1985.At the end of the mission the Republican senator had traveled over 1.5 million miles in 108 earth orbits logging over 167 hours in space. Garn was the first member of Congress to fly in space.
