Flu Clinics now open at the Bear River Health Department

LOGAN, Utah – Flu shots and flu mist are now available at the Bear River Health Department. Clinics will be held Monday thru Thursday from 8 am – 6 pm and Friday from 8 am – 1 pm in the Logan and Brigham City Offices.The cost of the shot and the mist will be $25. The Health Department accepts Medicaid, Medicare Part B, Medicare HMO (based on private policy),Select Health, EMI Health, PEHP Advantage and Traditional, and Blue Cross and Blue Shield.”An annual flu shot is the first and very best way to protect against influenza.” said Lisa Perkins, Influenza Program Coordintor for the Bear River Health Department, “New this year we have high dose vaccine that is recommended for people 65 and older. We want to assure that everyone who would like a flu shot is able to receive one.”CDC recommends that EVERYONE ages 6 months and older receive a flu shot. In order to assist community members in receiving their vaccine, the health department will be visiting many businesses to provide clinics. These will be in addition to the Senior Center and traditional community clinic sites. As always it is especially important for those 65 and over, those with chronic health conditions and pregnant women to be vaccinated.As in previous years the health department will have flu mist available. Flu mist is approved for those ages 2 years to 49 years old.
