Utah’s favorite presidential candidate Mitt Romney was in Cache County for only a few hours on Friday but he left a lasting impression on supporters who turned out for one or both of the fundraising events, a VIP event at the home of Dr. Marlowe Goble costing $2,500 per person and a more public event at the Riverwoods Conference Center, costing $500 per person.Local businessman Jack Nixon says he is even more excited about supporting the Republican candidate than he was four years ago and once again Nixon plans to work on his finance committee.Nixon says the candidate seemed relaxed and friendly.”He was very comfortable, didn’t feel stressed or pushed,” Nixon says. “He just sat and visited and talked with people, answered their questions.”Organizers had hoped the two events would bring in $100,000 or more. More than 50 were estimated at the Goble home and more than 150 were estimated at the Riverwoods reception. The total money raised between the two events has not yet been released.
