LOGAN, Utah – Utah State soccer continues its preparation for the 2011 season with an exhibition match against Southern Utah on Saturday, Aug, 13 at 12 p.m.This is the Aggies only exhibition before beginning the regular season. Utah State will officially open the 2011 season against Weber State at Rio Tinto Stadium, the home of Major League Soccer’s Real Salt Lake. This is the third-straight season that USU has played at Rio Tinto Stadium. For the first time, the Aggies will be the visitor as USU takes on Weber State on Friday, Aug. 19 at 4:30 p.m. Following the match between the Aggies and Wildcats, Iowa Western will take on Westminister in an exhibition at 7 p.m.Utah State and Southern Utah have not met since 2005 when the teams tied, 1-1. Overall, the Aggies hold a 3-0-1 advantage over the Thunderbirds in regular-season meetings.The Aggies return 13 letterwinners and eight starters from last year’s team that finished 9-7-5 and advanced to the Western Athletic Conference Tournament semifinals. Utah State tied with San Jose State for a share of the WAC regular season title.
