Grace rallying around Crane family

Kacey Crane was one of three men who died in a plane crash returning from Star Valley, Wyoming to Grace, Idaho July 18. Kacey’s wife, Cari, was just pulling into the small airstrip in Grace with her two young boys when they saw the plane crash. The community has rallied to help Cari and her sons. One of the efforts is an online auction underway now at Other events have been organized for Saturday, August 20 at the Grace Fairgrounds. Nathan Thompson, a family friend, is one of the organizers of the fundraising campaign. “Kacey was like a brother to us. He worked for my brother’s construction company for the last three and a half years. He was a foreman for us, he ran an excavator and ran a crew. We became very close on the different jobs we worked together. This has been a hard time for all involved, not having him around.” Thompson said at 3 p.m. on August 20 at the Grace Fairgrounds there will be a benefit team roping event and a silent auction throughout the day for smaller items donated by those wanting to help. “At 6 p.m. an auctioneer will be coming in to auction some larger items to help out the family.” Thompson said a barbeque dinner will follow with all food donated. “There has been a lot of work done to get the community involved so that all the money raised that day at the fairgrounds will go to the family.” Winners of the team roping competition will win customized saddles. Those interested in volunteering or wishing to donate items for the auction may call Autumn at (208) 681-8075.
