Full slate of activities planned Monday in Logan for Pioneer Day

Pioneer Day comes on Sunday, July 24 but on Monday a full day of Pioneer Day celebration activities will be held at Logan’s Willow Park. The activities begin at 7:30 a.m. with a pancake breakfast. Other morning activities include open grass volleyball tournament, non-competitive one and three mile fun runs, King and Queen of the Beach volleyball, and a horseshoe tournament along with skateboard competition. “The parade will start at noon and it will head down center street to 500 West and then it will head south to 700 South,” says Deb Harvey with Logan City Parks and Recreation Department. “It will go around the park so any great view on any of those streets. Then it will end up at the park and that’s when the entertainment begins.” The Pioneer Day parade starts at 12 noon on Center Street with parade participants ending up at Willow Park. Among the afternoon events are home run derby, pie eating contest, watermelon eating contest, a candy cannon every hour on the hour and much more. The celebration also includes music by Get Back, Honkey Tongans and Peter Breinholt. There will be fireworks at dark courtesy of Fireworks West.
