BRHD confirms sixth case of measles in Cache County

The Bear River Health Department is currently investigating a sixth confirmed case of measles in Cache County. This person is reportedly recovering. While it’s possible this recent case may be associated with the statewide outbreak, the health department is unable to identify a link. This case comes nearly six weeks following the first confirmed case in Cache County.Bear River Health Department staff continues to investigate all possible measles cases and to track all contacts of confirmed cases in an effort to contain the measles outbreak and minimize the outbreak’s impact on our community.Children and adults born after 1957 who have not been immunized with two doses of MMR vaccine should see their private physician or come to the Bear River Health Department and get immunized. For more information, the public should call their primary care physician or the Bear River Health Department at 792-6500The health department reminds people that if they are sick with fever and/or rash they should stay home (voluntary isolation) to not infect others and call ahead before visiting a healthcare provider so providers may keep them separated from other patients in the waiting areas.
