Council votes no on pay increase, yes on power and storm water increases

Members of Logan’s Municipal Council will not be increasing their own salaries. The council adopted a budget Tuesday night that does not give the council a pay hike. A proposed eight percent power rate increase will be going into effect, however. Logan resident Gary Joy told the council he loves Logan and feels elected officials do a good job, but he has problems with the power rate increase.”I still want to have my front porch light on to help to make our neighborhood safer,” Joy said, “and more beckoning and welcoming as they go by. I’ve already changed my light bulb to one of those little squiggly ones and so on and it’s going to be ’til I can’t do it anymore.”The budget also includes an increase in storm water fees from $3.50 a month to $4.50 a month.
