Salt Lake City to warn residents of wildfires

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) – Salt Lake City firefighters plan to take to the streets this week warning foothills residents about the dangers of wildfires. Wet weather has spurred huge growth in vegetation along hillsides. Firefighters warn the summer heat will soon dry it all out, creating a large wildfire potential. Salt Lake City Fire Marshal Martha Ellis has helped implement the Ready! Set! Go! Program, aimed at involving residents in wildfire plans before a blaze breaks out. The program educates residents on how to prepare their homes, family, and pets for wildfires. Firefighters plan to go door-to-door this week distributing information about the program.
