LOGAN, Utah – Utah State’s volleyball coach Grayson DuBose announced Wednesday three high school players – Shan England, Ashlan Rogers and Alexis Walker – who have agreed to join the Aggie Volleyball program and begin competing in the fall of 2011. “We are excited to have these three good volleyball players join our program and they will allow us to continue to increase the competition level in our gym,” said DuBose. England, a 6-3 middle blocker from Cave Creek, Ariz. (Cactus Shadow HS) earned first-team all-region and honorable mention all-state honors as both a junior and senior in high school. She was also named her team’s Most Improved Player as a sophomore. Along with volleyball, England also participated in women’s basketball and track. “Shan brings good experience and height to our team,” said DuBose. “Her high school and club experience will allow her to be a great asset to our program.” Rogers, a 5-9 libero from Highland, Utah (Lone Peak HS) was named the Region 4 Most Valuable Player and the Most Valuable Player of the state tournament as a senior as she helped lead her high school to a state championship. Rogers, who was also a member of the state championship team her sophomore season, was a three-time all-Valley and all-state selection along with being named the Utah Valley Player of the Year as a senior. “Ashlan is a talented volleyball player that will bring a great energy to our team,” DuBose said. “She has a great volleyball background and our fans will enjoy watching her play.” Walker, a 6-1 outside hitter from Idaho Falls, Idaho (Idaho Falls HS) earned first-team all-region and all-district honors as a prep senior helping her team win a district championship and finish second at the state tournament. Walker was also a member of two other district championship teams, along with a runner-up finish at the state tournament as a sophomore and a fifth-place finish as a junior. “Alexis comes from the same high school as our current libero Laurel Bodily, so she understands hard work and will be a great addition to our roster,” DuBose said. -USU-
