Sen. Lee against raising debt limit without balanced budget amendment

Once again U.S. Senator Mike Lee, R-Utah, is pushing for a balanced budget amendment. In fact, in a radio news conference Tuesday, Lee said he will not vote to increase the debt ceiling unless a balanced budget amendment is in place.”Obviously not everyone agrees with me on that. Only time will tell,” Sen. Lee said. “I hope time won’t have to tell because I hope what will happen is that those that were insisting on raising the debt limit reflexively, without question, if they really mean it then when they see they can’t get it passed without a balanced budget amendment then they’ll make sure that they pass one.”Lee says without a balanced budget amendment he plans to vote no on increasing the debt ceiling. Lee believes the voters will be with him overwhelmingly.
