Once again the community is invited to release a balloon for a loved one on Memorial Day. Mikell Brown started the event last year in memory of her sister who passed away seven years ago. Brown says it helps people heal by sharing memories.”We’re actually going to be just up at the Logan Cemetery,” Brown explains. “We’re going to be on the furthest east side. I invite people to come. “What I want people to do is come. We’ll give them a balloon and they actually write the name of their loved one on a balloon. We gather all the balloons up and we’ll do a big releasing at 1 o’clock.”Brown says those participating are invited to be there at 11 a.m. to prepare their balloons. She says it was a beautiful sight last year and everything is free because the products, all of them biodegradable, are donated by local businesses.
