Semi loses brakes, smashes into cars in Brigham City

A tractor-trailer overturned and struck three cars Friday afternoon in Brigham City. According to the Salt Lake Tribune, the accident happened just before 1 p.m. and only minor injuries were reported.Brigham City police Lt. Dennis Vincent says the rig lost its brakes as it came out of Wellsville Canyon on Highway 89/91. The tractor-trailer tried to turn the corner to go north on Main Street but the operator lost control and the rig rolled, Vincent said.While rolling, the tractor-trailer struck three cars waiting on a stop light at 1100 S. Main St. Vincent said two passenger cars were totalled and a pickup truck is likely totaled. Vincent said he expects a citation to be issued to the semi driver.
