Family stumbles upon assault in High Creek Canyon

Cache County Sheriffs deputies are investigating an alleged assault that happened Thursday in the High Creek area east of Cove. Lt. Brian Locke says a couple and their children were riding their four-wheelers up High Creek Canyon road and came upon Coni Stock and Jeremy Porter. Locke says Stock had sustained substantial injuries from an alleged altercation with Porter. Porter fled into the woods prior to the arrival of deputies. While deputies were going up the canyon to make contact with the suspect, Locke says, Porter came driving down the canyon. He was stopped and arrested without incident. Locke says the suspect may have had a gun with him but there was no indication that a gun had been used and no weapon was found. Porter was booked into the Cache County jail and faces charges of domestic violence assault, protective order violation, disorderly conduct, public intoxication and unlawful detention. Stock was taken to a local hospital for emergency treatment then released.
