Anderson: Logan City budget growing slowly

Logan’s Municipal Council is holding yet another budget workshop on Tuesday, May 24 starting at 5:30 p.m. in the City Office Conference Room at 290 North 100 West.Logan City Finance Director Richard Anderson says he agrees with Mayor Randy Watts that things are looking up financially. Even so, Anderson said on KVNU’s For the People program Thursday people should not be too optimistic.”I think we have seen the trough, as far as sales tax goes and many of our other revenue resources go, so I think things are going up,” Anderson said. “However, it’s going to go up slowly. It’s not going to be a rapid rise in revenue. “Doubtful that we will see double digit increases or even high single digit, but what we’re going to see is incremental growth, we’re hoping, in sales tax and other major revenue sources.”Anderson will give an in-depth look at the budget Monday when he appears on KVNU’s Crosstalk show. That program starts at 9:10 a.m. and it is a call-in show.
