Thomas Jefferson had it right, according to Dr. Shanon Brooks, co-founder and president of Monticello College. He invites people to be part of his Re-Value America tour Friday night. Brooks will be at the North Logan Library conference room at 6 p.m. and the address is 475 East 2500 North. On KVNU’s Crosstalk show Thursday, Brooks said during the free, two hour event people will learn about how a founder’s education can help resolve today’s problems.”A lot of this has to do with political issues, a lot of it has to do with culture issues,” Brooks explained. “If you go back and study the founding generation, this was a group of smart men and women and they put together a lot of information for us that we kind of don’t study anymore. “But if you go back and look at what they had, if politics starts to fall apart, if culture starts to fall apart they a back up plan. Part of it’s in the Federalist Papers, part of it’s in their own writing and you just have to go through that stuff and research it. We’ve done that.”Among the topics Brooks plans to cover are the five founding American ideals, the state of American education solutions to a nation in crisis and the moral center of families.
