Utah State’s Hailey Swenson Earns Academic All-District Honors

LOGAN, Utah – Utah State women’s tennis player Hailey Swenson was named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District VIII first-team it was announced Thursday and is now eligible for Academic All-America honors. Overall, the Western Athletic Conference had three female student-athletes honored as Nevada’s Aodhnalt Lombard joined Swenson on the first team, while San Jose State’s Shanice Howard was named to the second team. Swenson was also one of just three female student-athletes from the state of Utah recognized. Swenson, a senior from North Salt Lake City, Utah (Woodscross HS), graduated with a cumulative 3.98 grade-point average in psychology in the spring of 2010 and will finish her masters degree in business administration in June, 2011. Swenson, who is a three-time academic all-WAC recipient, finished her senior season with a 25-7 singles record including a 15-4 mark at the No. 2 position to earn second-team all-WAC singles honors. Those 25 wins for Swenson are a single-season school record. District VIII is made up of schools from Arizona, California, Hawai’i, Nevada, Oregon, Utah and Washington. -USU-
