Flood Watch issued for May 12-16

The National Weather Service in Salt Lake City has issued a Flood Watch for late Thursday night through Monday morning for portions of Northern Utah. The Flood Watch is in effect for Cache Valley (Utah portion) and the Wasatch mountains north of I-80.A high pressure system will bring rapidly warming temperatures through the weekend, resulting in increased snowmelt. This is forecast to cause flooding along the Blacksmith Fork River to the confluence of the Logan River. The Cub River, Little Bear River and other small streams in the Cache Valley may also be impacted.Areas adjacent to the Blacksmith Fork River, including Millville, Hyrum and Country Manor Estates may be affected by flooding. Additionally, flooding may impact low-lying bridges adjacent to the river.A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on current forecasts. Monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.
