SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — The Cache County sheriff’s office says a jail inmate has been hospitalized after being assaulted by another inmate. The Deseret News of Salt Lake City reports the assault occurred Saturday in Logan’s Cache County Jail. It’s the fourth assault inside a Utah jail or prison in the past 30 days. Cache County officials say 18-year-old Rocky Rivera suffered cuts to his face and back in the attack with a “homemade edged weapon.” In a statement, the jail says the assault occurred in a common area as inmates were being moved around the facility.. It was not clear Sunday whether Rivera remained hospitalized. Authorities say Rivera’s alleged attacker, 19-year-old Fernando Infante was taken into custody. The jail was temporarily locked down, but a search of the facility found no other weapons.
