American Mothers conference returns to Utah

“Motherhood Elevated.” That’s the theme for the national American Mothers Convention to be held at the Little America Hotel in Salt Lake City opening April 28 and continuing throughout the weekend. Logan resident Diane Wiesse heads the program committee and she says it has been 15 years since this convention was held in Utah and there is a lot of excitement about the event. On KVNU’s Crosstalk show Wednesday, Wiesse said Saturday, April 30 is the big day when numerous workshops of interest to mothers will be held. Among the speakers, she says, are John Gray, author of Men are From Mars, Women are from Venus, Sheri Dew, and John Bytheway. “He’s real entertaining and inspiring,” Wiesse said of Bytheway. “He’ll be our lunch speaker.” There will be other speakers and entertainers, Wiesse said, including Hillary Weeks “who is a wonderful musician and songwriter, she’ll entertain us and speak to us. A wonderful group from Ogden called Heartbound, three mothers that are down in the trenches, they talk and sing as well.” Special features at the convention are the selections of the American Mothers Mother of the Year and the Young Mother of the Year.
