AP source: La. Tech offers coaching job to White

A person familiar with the situation says Louisiana Tech has hired Mississippi assistant Michael White as its next head coach. The university made the decision on Tuesday afternoon, the person told The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because an official announcement has not be made. Louisiana Tech has scheduled a Wednesday press conference in Ruston, La. White will replace Kerry Rupp, who was fired last week. Rupp had a 57-69 record, including 20-42 in the Western Athletic Conference, over four seasons since his hiring in April 2007. White, the son of Duke athletic director Kevin White, grew up in New Orleans and played point guard at Ole Miss. White has been an assistant with the Rebels for the past seven seasons.
