Gov. Herbert fills vacancy on higher ed board

The newly appointed member of the state Board of Regents is set to take his oath of office.Mark Stoddard was appointed by Gov. Gary Herbert and confirmed by the Utah Senate last month. Stoddard will serve out the term of former regent Rosanita Cespedes.The regents are scheduled to meet in St. George on Friday. The board oversees the Utah System of Higher Education, which includes eight public colleges and universities.A former member of the Snow College Board of Trustees, Stoddard is president and CEO of Central Valley Medical Center in Nephi. He is also chairman of the Rural Health Group, the Rural Health Foundation and president of the Rural Health Management Corporation.Stoddard holds degrees from Snow, Utah State University and Brigham Young University.
