The Utah Legislature has approved a $1.7 million veterinary school partnership between Utah State University and Washington State University. USU President Stan Albrecht got the news while in Las Vegas where the Aggies were participating in the Western Athletic Conference basketball tournament. In an on-air interview with KVNU’s Al Lewis during an Aggie basketball broadcast, Albrecht said this is an incredible opportunity for Utah State. He says it is USU’s first-ever professional school. “We’re excited about that,” Albrecht said. “It’s a two plus two program. Students will do the first two years in Logan, their second two years in Pullman, then come out with a Utah State University doctorate in veterinary medicine. “This provides 30 seats, 20 seats for in-state students. So this provides a great step forward for Utah State.” Albrect says the other really good outcome from the legislative session was approval of bonding for a new business building.
