Educators should feel good about the funding they are getting from the 2011 legislative session. That’s what State Senator Lyle Hillyard, R-Logan, is saying. Hillyard says the lawmakers had a goal of meeting what Governor Gary Herbert had proposed and he says that is exactly what happened.”I think there’s been a lot of unnecessary angst caused within the education community by people not listening to what we were trying to say, what we were trying to do,” Hillyard says. “As I said all along, from day one it’s not going to be an easy process. “We have to make it open. People get to see it, anguish with us. But I told them with the end results that’s coming up pretty close to where we were and we did.”The legislature winds up its session Thursday, March 10 at midnight. Hillyard will give an overview of the session Friday on KVNU’s Crosstalk show starting at 9:10 a.m.
