SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Utah legislators and Gov. Gary Herbert paid tribute to former Utah Jazz coaches Jerry Sloan and Phil Johnson. The Legislature passed a resolution Monday morning to honor the two men, who retired together on Feb. 10. A ceremony at the Utah Capitol included speeches by Sloan, Johnson and Gail Miller, the widow of former Jazz owner Larry Miller. House Concurrent Resolution 17 says Sloan and Johnson brought honor and prestige to the state. It says Sloan was a model of consistency whose teams competed hard and won with grace.
