USU’s Swaner Preserve recognized as ‘green’ leader

Utah State University’s Swaner Preserve and EcoCenter has been recognized for its role in establishing Park City as a national “green” leader. The Park City Municipal Council received the 2010 Green Power Leadership Award from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency in October.Five nonprofit organizations in Park City were awarded for their contributions during the Park City Sustainability Roundtable. These organizations were the Swaner Preserve and EcoCenter, Recycle Utah, Clean Air Park City, Park City Foundation/Park City Green and Build Green Utah. Swaner was recognized for its ongoing clean energy use, energy efficiency, educational programs and because it was the first LEED Platinum construction building in the state, the highest ranking recognized by the U.S. Green Building Council.
