The price of gasoline keeps going up and Senator Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, says, unfortunately, the U.S. is spending from $4 to $700 billion a year buying oil from people who are America’s enemies. On KVNU’s Crosstalk show last Thursday, Hatch said it doesn’t have to be that way. “Well we have plenty of acres here, plenty of oil in our country, plenty of natural gas in our country,” Hatch decried. “If we would go towards nuclear we could solve an awful lot of problems and set up an electric grid. “We can do electric cars. The problem is that we haven’t spent the money to do these type of things. We’re spending it on things like ethanol.” Hatch says that’s because extreme environmentalists have a lot of influence with the Obama administration. Hatch says he has tried to push alternate forms of energy with his bills creating the hybrid car industry and electric cars.
