LOGAN, Utah – A total of 12 former Utah State football student-athletes worked out for National Football League (NFL) scouts on Thursday in USU’s annual “Pro Day,” as the scouts evaluated some of the former Aggies’ draft eligible seniors for the upcoming NFL Draft.Aggies participating in the event included linebacker/tight end Doug Barbour, quarterback Diondre Borel, safety Rajric Coleman, linebacker Maxim Dinka-Mba, defensive lineman Sean Enesi, defensive lineman Devin Johnson, offensive lineman Tariq Polley, cornerback Chris Randle, defensive lineman Nathan Royster, long snapper Pat Scales, running back Derrvin Speight and defensive lineman Kamaloni Vainikolo. Between the weight room and the Laub Indoor Practice Facility, players had their height, weight and wing span measured, then did performance tests including vertical jump, broad jump, bench press, shuttle run, three-cone pro agility run and the 40-yard dash.Highlights from Thursday’s action included Borel and Barbour running 4.47 times in the 40-yard dash, while Coleman was clocked in 4.51 and Randle had a 4.59. Randle also had a 37-inch vertical jump and a 10’3″ broad jump, as well as a 7.04 three-cone pro agility time. Coleman had a 9’11″ broad jump, a 7.15 three-cone pro agility time, and a 4.25 20-yard shuttle time. Barbour recorded a 10’2″ broad jump and Enesi posted 31 reps in the 225-pound bench press.There were 13 NFL scouts on hand for Pro Day. Following the tests and drills, some scouts put some of the players through separate football drills, such as Scales long snapping and Coleman and Randle doing defensive back coverage drills, Barbour and Speight running routes, and Borel running routes, throwing passes and fielding punts.Former Southern Utah defensive tackle Nick Garcia was also on hand to work out for the scouts. Utah State’s top prospect, cornerback Curtis Marsh participated in the NFL Combine last week in Indianapolis, running a 4.46 40-yard dash time. Teams’ pro days are one of the many tools used by NFL teams in preparation for the NFL Draft, which will take place Thursday-Saturday, Apr. 28-30 from Radio City Music Hall in New York City. Round one is Thursday, April 28. Rounds two and three will be Friday, April 29, with rounds four through seven on Saturday, April 30.-USU-
