Nominations sought for women of achievement

The Center for Women and Gender at Utah State University will be recognizing the achievements of women this year at the 2011 Achievement Awards on March 14. Center Director Ann Austin says everyone is invited to attend the event which starts at 6 p.m.Austin says nominations are invited for two different categories: a Lifetime Achievement Award for a woman over 65 and an Early Career Award for a woman in the first eight years of her professional career. page on Facebook.”Basically, what it is is a letter of nomination, probably two or three pages,” Austin explains. “Those are due March 1. “What we want you to do is talk about the contributions of the woman, why you think she is deserving of an Early Career award or a Lifetime Achievement Award, tell us a little bit about her so that it verifies to us that at some point in time she has been affiliated with Cache Valley.”Austin says through the awards the center hopes to acknowledge the women whose achievements make direct differences in the local community and provide valuable inspiration for everyone, especially the women of Cache Valley.
