SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — New Utah Jazz coach Ty Corbin admitted his head was still spinning from Jerry Sloan’s shocking resignation yet expressed confidence Friday the team and star guard Deron Williams were moving forward together.Corbin, after his first practice and just two hours of sleep, said the players responded well during Friday’s shootaround but the true test would come Friday night when they face Phoenix.Williams acknowledged that his halftime argument Wednesday night could have been the last straw for Sloan in deciding to abruptly retire after 23 seasons but denied forcing out the Hall of Famer.Teammates Andrei Kirilenko and C.J. Miles also refused to believe rumors that Williams gave management an ultimatum.
