USU choirs combine for That ’70s Concert

The combined choirs of the Utah State University Music Department join forces with the local cover band The Fender Benders to present “That ’70s Concert” on Friday, Feb. 11.Cory Evans, director of choral activities at USU, says it has been exciting to see the students learn tunes from the 70s. He says they are having fun singing the songs and are expanding their ability to perform different genres of music. The choral groups will perform some of the greatest hits of Styx, Led Zeppelin, Earth, Wind and Fire, The Eagles, Linda Ronstadt, ABBA, Boston, Kansas and many more. The songs will be a mix of standard covers inserted with choral harmonies in place of a solo singer.Evans says the performing choirs include the Chamber Singers, University Chorale, and the Women’s Choir. The USU Chamber Singers CD, Show Me Thy Ways, was recently a Grammy award nominee. The concert will be presented twice: at 6 p.m. and again at 8 p.m. in the USU Performance Hall.
