Celebrated food scientist visiting USU

Utah State University’s Department of Nutrition, Dietetics and Food Sciences is hosting Roger Clemens, president-elect of the Institute of Food Technologists, on Thursday, February 3. Clemens will give a presentation titled “Feeding A Nation: Reality vs Fallacy,” a rebuttal to the controversial documentary “Food, Inc.” The presentation is open to the public and it will start at 1:30 p.m. in the Taggart Student Center auditorium. Donald McMahon, professor of nutrition, dietetics and food sciences, says having someone visit Utah State who’s provided expert forensic and nutrition advice for TV shows such as “CSI-Miami” and “House” will be a great opportunity for students to think about their future. Clemens was the scientific advisor for Nestle USA for 20 years. He is currently the chief scientific officer at E.T. Horn Company and he has been a panel member for the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
