Familiar name elevated to Logan Fire Chief

Logan City has a new fire chief. Jeff Peterson, who has been serving as administrative assistant fire chief, succeeds Kyle Lindsay who resigned from the job last October after entering a home seeking prescription drugs. Before accepting a job in Logan City, Peterson served as deputy chief for the Cache County Fire District and during that time he was appointed chairperson for the local emergency planning committee. Peterson was hired as fire chief for Logan in 2001 but decided to step down two years later to become assistant chief under Mark Meaker. For 10 years Peterson was deputy chief for the Cache County Fire District and during that time he directed the Training and Hazardous Materials Divisions. As part of his duties he was appointed chairperson for the Local Emergency Planning Committee which was instrumental in starting the Cache County Hazardous Materials Response Team which, at that time, was one of only a few in rural Utah. Peterson helped implement a comprehensive training and certification program for the district’s 230 firefighters. Peterson will be a guest on KVNU’s Crosstalk show Monday, Jan. 31.
