Cache County Executive Lynn Lemon says he can understand why people are nervous following the fatal shootings in Tucson, Arizona last Saturday. But Lemon says he is in no hurry to beef up security in his own office as some people have advised him to do. Lemon says he firmly believes in an open-door policy. “I actually think that by being open,” Lemon says, “and by basically saying, ‘We’re here and we realize we can’t solve every problem. But we’re here. We want to try to reason with you. We want to try to talk about it. We want to try to do what we can to resolve the concerns that we have.’ “I think we’re better off than we are to try to shut ourselves off and shut ourselves away from the public in general.” Lemon says he expects local lawmakers will meet with local residents each Saturday a 7:30 a.m. during the upcoming legislative session as they have planned to do. He says hopefully people from all sides will realize they can disagree without being disrespectful.
