USU hosting Celebration of the Arts

The week of January 17 has been designated the first annual Celebration of the Arts week at Utah State University by the newest college, the College of the Arts. Dean Craig Jessop says the week will be launched on Tuesday, Jan. 18 with a student, faculty and alumni networking dinner at Hamilton’s Restaurant. On Wednesday, Jan. 19 an exhibit is opening in the Tippet Art Gallery featuring an art faculty show and Jessop says there will be the unveiling of a giant ice sculpture in front of the Performance Hall on Thursday.He says Thursday, Jan. 20 the College of the Arts’ dance component will present the halftime show at the USU Aggie basketball game in the Spectrum as USU hosts Louisiana Tech.”And then on Friday evening,” Jessop says, “as a grand gala concert where we are honoring the founders of the college, it will be a special tribute to those who have made such significant contributions to the university, specifically to the college of the arts, and specifically the Caine family. We’re very excited about that.”Jessop says the halftime show will feature alumni as well as students from the College. On Saturday, Jan. 21 he says there will be a revival of the “Compete Works of Shakespeare Unabridged” in the Caine Lyric Theatre and that will be followed by a combination dinner and open house at the Bluebird Restaurant.For more details and event information, visit
