SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — The Cache Valley Transit District is purchasing five new buses to increase the number of spares in its fleet. The Logan Herald Journal says that two of the buses are 35-foot hybrids and will be used on routes around Utah State University. The other three are 40-foot commuter buses that will provide service to the north and south ends of the valley.Cache Valley Transit District general manager Todd Beutler says that the hybrid buses use electronic propulsion systems or clean diesel fuel when needed. That means the buses will have lower emissions and better mileage. The transit district will now have four spare buses, and 32 total vehicles.
