Justin Hamilton, the 31-year-old owner of Hamilton’s Steak and Seafood and Cafe Sabor, is headed to court.The Utah State Tax Commission filed four charges against Hamilton earlier this month. Each of the four counts of unlawful dealing of property by fiduciary is a second degree felony. According to a press release, criminal investigators said Hamilton received several hundred thousand dollars from customer’s sales taxes and withheld several thousand dollars in employee’s payroll taxes. Hamilton used the money for illegal purposes, according to the Utah State Tax Commission’s press release. Under Utah law, Hamilton was required to remit these trust funds to the state. The Cache County Attorney’s office will be the prosecutor in this case, which will be heard in 1st District Court. – firstname.lastname@example.org
