There is no need to go without a nice environment on Christmas day in Cache Valley. Rachel von Niederhausern and her brother Adam Whitney have been the force behind the effort which they hope will become an annual event. On KVNU’s For the People program Tuesday, von Niederhausern said the siblings wanted to spread the Christmas spirit by reaching out to those who may not be able to afford a Christmas dinner or did not want to be alone. She says the free dinner will be served at the First Presbyterian Church on Christmas day, Sat. Dec. 25 from 2 to 4 p.m.”We want anyone who needs a nice holiday environment on Christmas day, a warm place, a good meal,” von Niederhausern said. “There’s going to be good music, fun things to do for children. If you need somewhere to go on Christmas afternoon, come.”She says there has been a great deal of help from local businesses and from Cache Community Connections. von Niederhausern and Whitney have applied to be an official non-profit organization going by the name “Global Neighbor” to help people not only locally but on a global basis.
