Forum discusses correlation between religion and the environment

It is sponsored by the Stokes Nature Center, a forum on “Religion and the Environment: Finding Common Ground In Utah.” New Stokes Nature Center Director, Bob Green, says the forum will be held Friday, December 10 starting at 7 p.m. at Crumb Brothers Artisan Bread, 300 South 300 West in Logan.Green says the conversation will be led by George Handley, professor of Humanities at Brigham Young University.”I know he’s got a strong background from California,” Handley says. “So he’s seen a lot of things in terms of the environment there and some of the things that are going on. He was a professor at Northern Arizona. For the last nine years he’s been at BYU. So we should have a good overview of the whole environmental type things.”Green says Handley is a member of the Utah Humanities Council. He says there will be an open discussion on environmental stewardship and its relationship with a variety of religious beliefs, especially Mormonism. For information or registration, call 755-3239.
