Crocheted stockings, wood drafts, jewelry, home decor and more. Those are just a few items that will be offered Saturday at what the Child and Family Support Center is calling a very unique Christmas boutique.Executive Director Esterlee Molyneaux says it’s a great way to get some Christmas shopping done and help the center financially at the same time. The boutique will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and the center is located at 380 West 1400 North.Molyneaux says although the non-profit center has lost funding during the severe recession the number of requests for services is up 26 percent.Because it hurts to see a child who has been abused, Molyneaux encourages people call before that happens.”One of the main services we provide is a 24 hour crisis nursery,” Molyneaux. “That is available, again, to all parents in our community, free of charge, completely confidential for whenever they’re in a crisis. “So maybe a parent’s lost a job and they need to go in for job interviews but they don’t have child care. We are there to help watch their kids. Maybe there’s a medical emergency or something going on with your family that you just need a place for your kids to go for a little while.”Molyneaux says during the last year alone the 24-hour crisis/respite nursery received 3,206 visits. She says attending the Saturday boutique will give people a chance to also take a tour of the center.
