Despite work being postponed, Utah Department of Transportation spokesman Vic Saunders said it looks like work will begin soon on the major 1000 West reconstruction project. Saunders said a pre-bid meeting will be held in the middle of December, and he is encouraged by the fact that a lot of region one contractors have shown an interest in the project.”We need to start as soon as we can on the bridge work on the Logan River bridge because we need to have as much of that work done that’s in the waterway as possible in advance of the spring runoff,” he said. “So as soon as the contract is let and the contractor is ready to move forward, we’ll begin immediately with work to widen that bridge and to get it ready as far as we possibly can before the spring.” It’s a major construction project and Saunders said everyone involved is pleased to see that is is moving forward.
